Capital Campaign UPdates
Session calls for a congregational meeting NEXT Sunday, October 12, 10:20 am, in the Fellowship Hall. Adult Sunday school classes will end at 10:15 am to accommodate attendance. The purpose of the meeting is to ask the congregation to approve three requests related to the Annex renovation and expansion. Our best projections anticipate that Capital Campaign giving will be sufficient to cover the entire Annex project by the end of 2027, but that we face a cash flow gap of $400,000 in 2026 between the date Capital Campaign donations are received and the date construction expenses will need to be paid. Session believes a bridge loan is the best approach to covering this gap. A Letter of Credit is also required to provide a financial guarantee to Manheim Township that the church will complete its obligation to the township for land development work on the construction site. Monday June 30th the construction will start on the multipurpose project. The lobby work will be starting which includes new flooring, ceiling and lighting. The scope of this work in the lobby starts at the double doors in the corridor leading past the administrative offices and terminates at the double doors entering the children’s Sunday Area. Temporary partitions will be installed sealing off the existing gym and demolition will be commencing there after the 4th of July. The target completion is early October if not earlier. New offices, conference room, work areas, and classrooms will be constructed. The gym will be refitted with new lights, painting of walls below 10 feel and an entirely new gym floor for basketball, volley ball and of course for Congolese church services.
The Annex is marching through design thanks to the hard work and the building committee and our contractor. Design is nearly 75% complete and looking to wrap up end of July for permit application in August. The site approvals are well underway and will be complete in September.
The office lobby renovation, as part of the gym renovation project, has begun! The entrance doors to the church under the carport will be inaccessible during the office lobby renovation, which is anticipated to last 2–3 weeks. To enter the building, pass the carport and walk down the sidewalk to the double doors under the covered porch. Our receptionist will be working at a temporary desk to greet you. Signs will be placed along the way to guide you to the appropriate entrance doors. We appreciate your patience during the renovations and apologize for any inconvenience these temporary changes may present.
The design of the Multipurpose Room is complete and in the construction documentation phase. It is within budget and construction is planned to start June 16th. The front lobby will be getting a face lift with new flooring and other finish upgrades. New classrooms, a conference room, and additional office space will be generated with the construction project. The gym area will receive new flooring and paint and new light fixtures. The planned completion is scheduled for mid to late September 2025.
The Annex project continues in design as well as the respective site approvals from Manheim township. The target date for the start of construction is this October 2025 at the conclusion of the Multipurpose Room project. The addition on the Annex will be a worship area. Additional classrooms and a kitchen are also part of the renovation. The committee will be extremely busy for the next several months finalizing the design and budget for this project.
