Serving those around us

Ways to Serve Refugees
We need help to transport newly arriving refugees to various church events. While we do not have a current need, with an influx of refugees expected, we like to keep a list of available drivers.
Adopting a family is a one-year commitment to do one activity per month with a refugee family, like celebrating a birthday, having a Fourth of July cookout, playing board games or going to a park. Our refugee families are so eager to have American friends.
During Sunday School, we hold ESL Sunday School classes as well as literacy classes for middle school, high school and some adults.
With many newly arrived families, we have a significant need for gift cards from Walmart and Target. We use these to buy essentials that families do not receive from the resettlement agencies. The gift cards can be left in the church office.
Westminster provides after-school tutoring on Wednesdays during the school year for Congolese elementary and middle school students of WPC. We also host special events for tutored children during the summer months.
