VBS MISSIONS PROJECT

Engaging Disability With The Gospel

Engaging Disability With The Gospel coaches churches to disciple and enfold kids, teens, and adults with disabilities. We do this in three ways. Through the creation of adapted resources that we make available in our store, Simply the Gospel. Through cohort-based training in our Room on Our Pew programming. And through 1:1 church coaching we call Beyond the Pew.

Each kit would include a variety of sensory tools such as fidgets, noise-reducing headphones, textured items, and other calming or stimulating tools that can be used during worship, Sunday school, and other church gatherings. See attached images.

These kits will be given to the churches we support as they begin or grow their disability ministry. The goal is to provide practical, tangible resources that help churches welcome children with a variety of sensory needs. For some children, having something in their hands helps them listen and participate more fully. Others may need support to feel calm, focused, or regulated in a busy church environment.

Whether a child needs help calming down, staying engaged, or processing sensory input, these kits can be a simple but meaningful way for churches to communicate: “You are welcome here, and we are glad you are part of the body.”

GOAL: We aim to raise $5,000—That’s 50 sensory kits!
